in the city of vallejo. who shot one man to death and wounded four others? that's what police want to know after a violent incident happened last night. kpix 5 reporter elissa harrington is in vallejo this morning with what we know so far. >> reporter: good morning. the victim has only been identified as a man in his 20s. he and another man were found suffering from gunshot wounds inside of that garage on the 800 block of humboldt street. police were first called out here last night around 8:30 after neighbors reported hearing gunshots. police arrived to find two gunshot victims on the ground inside of the garage. they were taken to the hospital where one of them died. police say that there were actually five people shot here total. three others two men and one woman drove themselves to the hospital. >> everything right now is in the preliminary stages of the investigation. unknown as to who the suspect victims are, whatever transpired here. and what we're doing right now is trying to piece everything together. >> reporter: police have not released a

a home invasion. this happened around 3:40 this morning. a sergeant with the vallejo police department told me two men kicked down the front door to the two-story house on the mcdoug al street and headed upstairs. a 59-year-old woman lives here with her two adult children both in their 20s. the son woke up first and went into the hall to see what was going on. he was shot in the face. the mother then came or the of her room and was shot in the hip -- the mother then came out of her room and was shot in the hip. the daughter was shot but she was holding a pillow that shieldle her so the bullet only hit her finger. all three-family members were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries. police don't know why the house was targeted or if anything was taken. both suspects are armed and police say that both of them fired shots in this house. i also just spoke with another officer and asked about crime in the area. he said this is actually one of the safer areas of vallejo. elissa harrington, kpix 5. >>> new this mor

. this noontime police are investigateing a violent home invasion in vallejo in which three members of one family were shot overnight. ktvu john sasaki is live with more on how the suspects got into the house. good afternoon. >> reporter: hey tory on the door to this home you can see how this shocking crime began. there is a shoe print next to the doorknob where one of the shooters kicked in that door. here is a view from chopper 2 hours after it happened. this morning two men broke into the home there. three people home, a woman and two of her children were all shot. the son was hit in the face, his mother in the hip and his sister shot in the hand. fortunately all three expected to survive their injuries. the family though is in shock. as yet police don't know what prompted this attack. >> at this point there is nothing to indicate that this was specifically targeted. there are no indications of that. so we are treating this as a random act. >> there was a burglary up the street a couple of months back but the people weren't there and nobody got hurt. but this one, this is crazy. i just don't u
